Edgehill Village is arguably situated in the best part of Nashville – adjacent to the east side of famous Music Row, 4 blocks from Vanderbilt University, and two blocks from Belmont University. Edgehill Village is a mixed-use property created from a 1920s-era group of eight buildings that was built as a commercial steam laundry, includes retail and business space as well as loft/studio living.

Edgehill Village is a set of eight buildings that were originally Whiteway Cleaners & Laundry, a 1920s era commercial steam laundry. The new development utilizes many recycled parts of the original buildings either in innovative new ways, or refurbished and used for their original purpose. For example, the original steel single pane window panels were recycled and became sections of the partition walls inside the mall area, the original concrete roof tiles were removed, cleaned and reused for their original purpose and corrugated metal roofing sections have been recycled as wall paneling for interior building structures.

The Urban Land Institute made the following statement regarding the development: “Edgehill Village is such a creative use of space – turning an industrial laundry into a mixed-use neighborhood destination. It’s an urban village with shops, restaurants, loft apts. and work spaces; it reinvests in the neighborhood and offers economic development opportunities to the neighborhood. Having both sides of the street developed and incorporating natural grasses and sidewalks creates a true neighborhood scale, a pedestrian-friendly sense of community. The preserved industrial architecture is a great example of sustainable development…and it’s beautiful.”
